Sour Head in CO
Just got my first electric brewing set up. The Brewers edge mash and boil. Any suggestions/tips/tricks for this set up?
What to brew first?!

Thanks. I use a Wilser Bag in the malt pipe and fine crush my grain. The burned material is C-shaped as you say but it requires a lot of elbow grease with the scraper then I can use the scrubby side of my sponge with Bar Keeper’s Friend.Hmmm.
I get a small amount of burnt looking stuff over what I assume is the heat element from time to time. It is sort of a shape of a C on the very bottom, but it comes right off with minimal pressure using a green scrubby pad. I tend to get that little bit after every brew ( I BIAB inside the mash pipe, and my crush is pretty fine ), but like I said, it comes off nice and easy.
I get a little of that in my M&B. I've found that stirring frequently during the boil and during the heat up phase after the sparge is over helps allot. I also try to periodically scrape the bottom of the pot while I stir, just like you would if you were making spaghetti sauce or something like that. Works pretty well and any small amount I have left after the boil comes right off with a scrubby.Thanks. I use a Wilser Bag in the malt pipe and fine crush my grain. Yeah it's definitely possible. I keep the burner on the lower temp setting during the mash and use a bag in the grain pipe like you do. My theory with the stirring is that it keeps more of the particulate in suspension when the heating element is on full blast. Thanks, I will try doing that. Because I crush fine, I just wonder if it is possible for the very small particles to get burned onto the bottom during the mash phase. I’ll try your way during the boil and see if that works.
